What's New

Coroflot Version 4.X

We've been working a long time on the new version of Coroflot, and we're pretty proud of the results. Below you'll find a detailed explanation of what's new. Most importantly, we've laid the groundwork for future expansion and features, which we'll be rolling out continually over the next several months. Thanks for joining us!

Free and Easy

The best things in life are still free - like your Coroflot portfolio! There is no charge for our service. We've also cleaned up the process and interface as much as possible to make it easier than ever to sign up and start sharing your work.

Networking

One of the things we're most excited about is the 'Network' feature. This allows you to add other Coroflot members to your network. When people view your profile they can see your network. Use this to connect with friends of friends and extend your own professional network. At Coroflot we're all about making creative connections!

Unlimited File Uploads

There is now no limit to the number of files you can include in your portfolio. The only restriction is that files cannot be larger than 200K each. All files are organized into 'Sets' now. You can group your projects by project name, by project type or any other way you want. We've built an easy drag-and-drop interface to allow you to organize your sets and files quickly.

Share Your Work

You can now control the access to your entire profile or to individual sets. There are three settings - public, private and semi-private. When you set your profile to public you will appear in search results and anywhere else you might turn up on the site. Semi-private means your profile and projects are only available via your personal URL. Private takes your profile and portfolio offline completely.

On the set level these three settings work the same way. Sets labeled as public appear as part of your profile. Private sets cannot be seen by anyone. Semi-private sets are accessible through a set URL only. You can mark a set as semi-private and then invite people to view those files confidentially.

Seeking Work Status

On your 'Account Settings' page and 'Profile' page you'll see a field labeled Employment Status. The choices are:

  • Actively Seeking Employment
    • Full time
    • Freelance
  • Not seeking employment at this time

Members who select Actively Seeking Employment' are included in our active pool. When searching for portfolios, hiring managers can select to include only those actively looking for work, filtering out those who are not seeking new jobs, and making the search more efficient.

Detailed Traffic Reports

Our new 'Profile Statistics' page lets you track the activity of various parts of your profile. The reports are organized by month and by year. The columns of numbers show how many page views or uses each particular item in your profile got that month. The specific items are:

  • Home Views: The number of page views for your public profile summary page.
  • Profile Views: The number of page views for your profile page (resume, etc.).
  • Image Views: The total number of page views for all your project pages.
  • Search Results: The number of times your profile came up in search results.
  • Web Site clicks: The number of times a visitor click on the link to your website.
  • Email Clicks: The number of times a visitor used the 'Contact' form to send you a message.
  • Profile Sent: The number of times a link to your profile was sent using the 'email this' tool.

Tags

You can now add tags to all individual file pages. If you don't know, tags are keywords that help describe your work. Along with the tags is a tags browsing page and search tool that allows visitors to browse the site in new ways. Combining tags with other data will allow us to recommend work and profiles to site users based on their searches and use of the site. All of this greatly increases the visibility of your projects, and your profile.

Personal URL

Your Personal URL is a clean shortcut that you can use to direct visitors to your profile. The default setting is www.coroflot.com/{your_user_name}. You can change this to whatever nickname you want on your 'edit profile' page and on your 'account settings' page. Include this URL in the signature of your email to get maximum exposure. Use it on your business card too. It is yours to keep forever.

Your sets also have individual URLs. The URL for any individual set is 'www.coroflot.com/your_personal_url/sets/set_title'. You can email this link to people as an invitation to see specific collections of your work. This is particularly useful when privately showing work to clients or potential employers.

Avatar

Your avatar is a JPG or GIF file, 60px X 60px, that represents you on your profile page. It also appears in the networking page, along with the 'Title' and 'Location' information from your profile.

Contact Form

We've taken a step towards protecting your privacy by hiding member's email addresses. If someone wants to contact you they will fill out a short form and our system will send an email. This prevents spammers from harvesting emails and lets us track the contact activity on our site better.

Job Alerts

Our job alert email works the same way it always has. We've recently added a variety of RSS feeds to allow you to get the latest job postings in each category delivered to your reader.

School

On your profile page you add your alma matter to your profile from our database of art and design schools. When you make this link your profile is added to others from the school, and then linked from the listing pages for the individual schools. This is a big help for potential students who will evaluate the programs by comparing the work and information of actual graduates. Do your part to help your school by linking your profile!
