Bioframe concept is my proposal for the Local Motors and Arpa-E contest 2015, whose requirements is to create a purely conceptual, novel lightweight vehicle using advanced materials and innovative structural solutions while maintaining/exceeding current vehicle safety standards, in addittion to 5 seater sedan distribution, and current engine/drivetrain.
This concept is inspired by the internal human bone tissue structure, ellipsoid shaped (very aerodynamic and structurally more stable than a box shaped conventional spaceframes), and biomorphic design.
The weight of this vehicle is 781 kg (44% weight reduction over a current sedan with similar size which weights 1400 kg). This is possible by using a new reinforced Aluminum matrix composite bodyshell, innovative architecture, and graphene components.
