3D CAD & CAM (Computer Aided Design & Computer Aided CNC Machining)

Job Description:
Prepare and oversee the preparation of CNC programs per client specifications, written/verbal instruction and CAD drawings or files.

Responsible for understanding various machine tool operation limits and capabilities. Also responsible for understanding the working properties of the materials used in the machining process. Must have strong understanding of and be able to read and manipulate g-code NC files.

Responsible in assuring tool paths (g-code NC) have been verified before they are released to the production floor. Responsible for quality review of FRP tooling before they progress to the final stages of machining and finishing.

Create 3D model files for clients from drawings, hand sketches or existing files in preparation for tooling production. (3D model files necessary for UGS NX CAM).

Use NX4 software to create and/or modify 3D models, construction drawings, and produce G-code programs for 5-axis gantry mills.

Use NX4, Solidworks 2004, and Sigmanest 7.2 to create composite tooling framework for mold or plug.

Receive finished 3D model files from client and add modifications needed for tooling (split complex parts for proper tooling and add necessary vacuum bagging or mating flanges)

Work within tight deadlines to issue model files, drawings and CNC programming.

Established machine cutter library tracking sheet, standards for mold/plug framework design and helped standardize project data filing structure.

Produced sales brochures & logo for company.
