The challenge was to remain loyal to the brand’s historically Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian aesthetic while adapting it for today’s needs and pricing limitations. The position required conceptualization, presentation imagery, 3-D modeling, final 2-D drawing packages, and critiquing factory samples to achieve the required levels of quality. CDI Toys/Jakks Pacific, Trevose, PA September 2010- October 2011 Industrial Designer- Toddler Brands Designed toys to support licensed toddler brands (Minnie’s Bow-tique, Dora the Explorer and others). Created concept sketching and presentation imagery, communicated with licensors and overseas vendors to create toys that were within costing limitations, stimulating to the target age group and user- safe. DesignDesign Inc, Kennett Square, PA September 2009-March 2010 Full-time contract Industrial Designer Worked on 3 main projects while contributing to smaller pieces of others. Sketched concepts/made sketch models, presented ideas to clients in rendering/ loose sketch format. Communicated with overseas and domestic manufacturers to research materials. Provided 3D Models for manufacturing. Dansk (Lenox), Bristol PA May 2009 Freelance Industrial Designer Supported the Senior Designer, prepared 2D/3D drawings of classic pieces for re-manufacture. Conceptualized a modern update for a classic line. Design Circle Inc, Warminster, PA 2006 April-2009 January Mid-Level Industrial Designer Produced ideation sketches, conducted user and human factors research, refined and presented final concept to clients, performed final 3D modeling and presentation renderings, created control drawing packages. Designed product packaging. Communicated with China vendors. Updated website. Definitive Design of Paramount Industries, Langhorne, PA 2005 October/2006 May-June Freelance Industrial Designer Generated concept sketching, conducted human factors research and produced presentation plates for a variety of projects, ranging from medical equipment to household cleaning products. Responsible for an internal display project.
