I am a 2005 graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a BFA concentrated in graphic design. I have had the opportunity to work in several different industries, including Newspaper/Magazine Publishing, Real Estate, and Marketing/PR. My education & experiences have exposed me to many methods of production in addition to computer-based graphics including letterpress, silk-screening & gocco printing, allows me the opportunity to think more outside the box when seeking a problem solving strategy.

Design and layout of two monthly business-to-business trade publications. Responsibilities include: The selection of typefaces, imagery, colors, and preparing digital files for direct-to-plate printing. The creation of custom artwork as needed. Taking in-house photography as well as the selecting and purchasing of stock photography. The design and layout of supplemental materials, including annual print and iPad media kits, web and print advertisements, monthly e-blasts, direct mail, publication reprints, and website graphics. In January 2011, was responsible for the complete redesign of the Flexible Packaging publication and brand.

Packaging Strategies Newsletter
Designed and laid out a semi-monthly newsletter and its supplemental
publications. In addition to handling the production of the newsletter; edited photos, created custom graphics, charts, and created custom newsletter reprints. Was responsible for updating the overall visual appearance of the publication and collaborated with another art director on a complete redesign of the Packaging Strategies logo.
Prepress Production Specialist - 02/08-10/11
Preflighted, collected and created print ready PDFs of all ad materials for
60+ magazine brands; checked for accuracy of fonts, color, and image/size specification in preparation for printing. Communicated with production managers and art directors to create PDFs according to their publication specs. Prepared and supplied text and images for publication websites as needed. When time permitted, worked on other special projects: designed in-house advertisements, flyers, post cards, mailers, e-blasts, editorial calendars and other promotional materials.

Involved in the redesign of the corporate “look,” to be represented through
all of the company’s promotional materials. In addition, designed flyers,
newspaper ads, sale/lease proposals, trifold brochures, newsletters, logos,
posters, and invitations. Communicated with print vendors and advertising
representatives. Designed all marketing materials for a high-profile Global
Real Estate Symposium held for a partner firm, Newmark Knight Frank, which included invitations, stickers, emails, nametags, programs, and posters.

In my free time I enjoy performing as part of 9-piece wedding/show band.
I play guitar, trombone and am one of several singers in the group. My
“extra-curricular” activites serve as an additional creative outlet, as I not
only get to make music, but create all of the band’s marketing and promotional materials.
