Bar Counter - The Forrest Tea House is a place serving light food and beverages. It is designed to create a comfortable atmosphere for relaxation and for those who want to temporally escape from the hectic daily life. Thus, the whole concept is to blend the entire building well with the surrounding and bring the visitors back to Mother Nature where we should belong to. In addition, the tea house will be another sustainable building in Penang Island to prevent our environment from getting deteriorated.
Indoor Dining Area - There are plants planted inside the tea house while the ceiling, floor and some of the walls are finished with timber. However, glass walls are built to maximize views and natural lighting. The interior is filled with nature provides a comfortable place for visitors to rest and enjoy the nature. The plants in the tea house and the open air design make the air always stays fresh. This is hardly to be achieved in a big city since air pollution is getting worse.
Indoor Dining Area - To make this building sustainable, vegetated roof, also known as green roof, is constructed to minimize damage to the surrounding. Green roofs involve growing plants on rooftops and so replacing the vegetated footprint that was destroyed when the building was constructed. The tea house is designed with a green roof not only for aesthetics purpose it brings plenty of benefits to the building itself and the surrounding at the same time.
Outdoor Dining Area - Besides, photovoltaic panels are fixed to make it a partial self-electrical-supply building. No air-conditioners, only fans are used to reduce the usage of electricity.
