Work History

EMPLOYMENT: FBC Zachary :: Administrative Assistant (Ministries: Music and Youth) / Graphic Design / Webmaster / Publications / Video Editing, (September 09 - Present). Besides the standard administrative duties actually listed on my job description, I am responsible for the majority of the church's graphic design for print, web, advertising, and for the majority of their online presence: social media and their website (CMS) / maintenance / upkeep. When I arrived in 2009 it quickly became obvious that the church's design image and branding needed overhauling. I was given an opportunity to do that. They provided a nice office and some quality tools to affect those changes starting with branding. It's been a challenge to shape this job into something that fits my strengths. Now I spend the lion share of my time doing graphic design and would like to do that exclusively in the future. Currently, I work closely with web and local vendors to develop and complete jobs that I cannot complete here on site (i.e. tshirts, printed cups, banners, etc). I've also had opportunities to write copy for several publications (web copy and print copy). I have had opportunities to develop musical program theatrical sets (designing, creating, painting) and have taken advantage of several opportunities to paint murals on site - the most notable of which are currently displayed in the preschool hallways. On campus, I am the go-to person for on site visuals (banners, posters, cut vinyl, etc). WIth a background in large format printing and signage, I'm often called upon to design/install cut vinyl and other such signage related tasks. I've been asked multiple times to help with mock-ups for renovations (sanctuary renovation, the new ministry center, and the new missions center) that aid committees in their decision making process. I manage the staff's email administration, the church’s domain registration, the monthly newsletter, the weekly worship service bulletin, and the weekly e-newsletter. I am responsible for editing the weekly sermon video and for making those available online and for TV broadcast. I am also responsible for updating the web page, weekly announcement slides (that rotate on networked TVs), and the digital street sign. I've created ministry brochures, thousands of ministry event cards, multi-page booklets for various ministries/promos/events, etc. I've been asked to provide art direction for worship services, new facilities, and ministries. It's liberating in some ways to be a one-person show - though I'd much prefer to be part of a design team instead of a lone-wolf in this - the job's become much bigger than I anticipated and it has become a challenge to manage my time in such a way to accommodate all of the design requests in addition to my secretarial duties. (Previous job details available on request) EDUCATION: Southeastern LA University - Graduated Summa Cum Laude December 2004 - Bachelors of Visual Arts, focus in Graphic Design; Creative Writing minor TECHNICAL SKILLS: Adobe Creative Suites (Was using CS6 on a PC OS, now using CC on a Mac OS) (most proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator & In Design); Final Cut Pro for weekly sermon video editing; Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (mainly Publisher on PC OS, Word, Excel and Power Point); "familiar with" and have used several other design standard programs in past job situations and I use Adobe After Effects on occasion (nothing fancy because time does not allow - would love to immerse myself into that); currently using a content management system to maintain my employer's website (Church Plant Media CMS - previously I used Faith Highway, ACS Extend); very basic coding (HTML & XHTML, CSS) to supplement the website's CMS; VIVID, a digital road sign program; Typing (65-75 wpm); Illustration/painting (on paper/canvas/walls or on computer screen through the use of a Wacom Intuos tablet and a graphics program); copy writing; article writing; slogan creation/collaboration; basic art direction; ACS People Suite, the industry standard church database program (ACS On Demand); extensive experience with both MAC and Windows OS. MACHINES: Ricoh/Savin, Xerox 7775/7776 and Xerox 5252 small format digital printers; In previous jobs I used large format printers: Oce Arizona 2000 wide format solvent printer; Display Maker wide format printer; Vutek 150 wide format solvent printer; Color Burst RIP; Vinyl Express 2.0; die cutting (by hand); weeding vinyl; various trouble shooting for the above mentioned machines, calling for maintenance, doing various upkeep and color correcting/matching, and ordered the machine's supplies (ink, parts, paper, etc), folding and laminating machines, etc. PERSONAL INTERESTS: I enjoy writing fiction, singing (especially in worship leading choirs), playing UNO, and just about anything crafty (sewing, knitting, crochet, etc). I'm single but I enjoy hanging out with my sister's families (I have five nieces/nephews who are a blast). I like science fiction and fantasy stories like Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Narnia...
