Work History

EMPLOYMENT: FBC Zachary, Administrative Assistant (Ministries - Music and Youth) / Graphic Design / Webmaster / Publications, (September 09 - Present). Besides the administrative duties actually listed on my job description, I am responsible for the majority of the church's graphic design and for all of the new website layout / maintenance / upkeep in addition to fielding IT questions that come up about various computer programs. When I arrived it quickly became obvious that the church's design image and branding needed overhauling. I was given a nice office and some quality tools to affect the changes. It's been fun to shape this job into something that fits my strengths. Now I spend the lion share of my time doing graphic design. I work closely with web and local vendors to develop and complete jobs that I cannot complete here on site (i.e. tshirts, printed cups, banners, etc). I've also had opportunities to write copy for several publications (web copy and print copy). I have had opportunities to develop musical program theatrical sets (designing, creating, painting) and have taken advantage of several opportunities to paint murals on site - the most notable of which are currently displayed in the preschool hallways. I handle the monthly newsletter, the weekly worship service bulletin, the weekly e-newsletter, updating the webpage and the weekly announcement slides, and managing the digital street sign. I've done multi-page booklets and have provided art direction for worship services, new facilities, and ministries. It's liberating to be a one-person show - though it makes keeping my skills sharp more of a struggle because there's little time left for that and it's hard to find someone to provide the constructive criticism I need that helps me resist the design rut.
