Deep sea water is generally considered free of chemicals, pollutants and pathogens but rich in minerals, attracting many consumers who are increasingly conscious of the drinking water quality. Korea was joining an exclusive club of countries bottling deep-sea water, with CJ creating the market anew, companies working in the industry were racing to gain the upper hand in the market. All aspire to give the "best" water possible, not to mention attractive packaging to grab consumers’ attention.
The bottle shape looks simply square. Applied cuts at the edges of the bottle convey depth of where the water comes from. The embossed logo and double sided label adds sophistication with refraction from the edges.
Bluemarine became an iconic product in premium bottled water market. With its innovative bottle design and advertisements, sales went up by 50 percent in 2008 although it is twice as expensive as other ordinary bottled water brands.
I focused on transposing the 'deep sea' image to the water. After studying different types of bottle shapes, I worked on modified square shapes.
