Ariccia Lighting Design

The goal for this project was to demonstrate my ability to calculate lighting density and use this knowledge to create an exquisite dining atmosphere for the restaurant Ariccia at the Hotel at Auburn University. The Light Mapping & Wayfinding plan shows the significance of wayfinding through the use of lighting on a vertical surface. The main dining is casually low lit with adjustable recessed cans providing light on horizontally on the table tops (yellow on the Light Mapping & Wayfinding plan). Compared to main dining there are less lumens per square foot in the bar dining area and the more lumens with high flexibility in the private dining room that also doubles as a small conference room. All main corridors are well lit to provide safe pathways and wayfinding for guests. Overall the lighting design is intimate and appealing while still protecting the public’s health, safety, and welfare.
