Sustainable Farming School

Growing Healthy Futures is my initiative to solve the hunger problems of AIDS orphans while also providing education and guidance towards a brighter future. They will come to eat nutritious, fresh grown food, get hands on experience farming the five acres onsite, and be educated with the knowledge and skills to get a reputable farming job. My inspiration is Earthworks’ Urban Farm in Detroit, which also promotes sustainable agricultural practices, nutrition, and care for the Earth through gardening and education. A working community farm is the ideal solution for solving hunger problems. Due to limited transportation, orphaned teens currently find it difficult to travel to the markets. This sustainable farming school will help solve the issue by providing the kernels of knowledge for teens to grow their own food. Growing Healthy Futures will work to assist these orphans to discover a purpose in life, and lead the “Lost Generation” sustainable farming school on a road to recovery.
