Transforming Interiorities

Interior spaces have the capacity to transform one’s behavior; how they see themselves and how they perceive their actions. In the design for this club in the Harajuku district in Tokyo, the youth subculture, with its mixture of cute and gothic aesthetics, is addressed. The building’s bars and lounges shift in scale and lighting techniques to produce a range of effects from calm to elaborately dark, allowing the users to immerse themselves in the sensations that are enjoyed in the cosplay culture of the youth in Harajuku.
