Inspiration - The inspiration for this project was drawn from this dynamic image which captures the essences of the quote through the juxtaposition of spiraling and linear light.

South Section - The southern section provides an overall view of the book store and how the inspirational image was translated into the design of the space. Here you can see large metal "spears" penetrating each level of the floor around the central circulation.

1st Level Plan - The entry into the book store is defined be a catwalk that is suspended over a vert ramp. The arching bookshelves were designed to emphasize the central circulation.

2nd Level Plan - The mezzanine overlooks the main level of the bookstore and is utilized as the cafe. This is the level in which guests can ride the spiral slide into the lower level.

3rd Level Plan - The third level is a loft for additional cafe seating above the fire stair.

Lower Level Plan - The lower level of the book store houses additional merchandise, and has been designed to be an after-hours mini skatepark.

Stair Detail - The glass stair detail provides something more than just an aesthetic, but an understanding and knowledge of how things are constructed.

Interior Perspective 2 - This perspective shows the coming together of two worlds through the materials palette. Rough brick, exposed ducts, and industrial lighting are balanced by polished metals, fine woods, and crisp glass.
