These were meant to depict the inner, more raw parts of humanity, expressing themselves from beneath our outer decorum or protocol, here shown as wilder cues projecting through formal portraiture in the staid style of the Victorians.
The first series was meant to portray the same undercurrent of wildness through pinup/romantic styles, thus, the sepia/ink washes.
