Freelance Industrial Designer at Nicholas Harris
I was approached by the CEO of I Measure U to design a casing for an inertial measurement unit, which would be worn in various locations on the body. Internal componentry had already been built and tested, so was frozen. During the design phase I consulted with the CEO and technical leads, as well as the firm we intended to produce the parts. I worked on sketching a conceptual approach to the housing, and brought the project all the way through to final CAD data ready for tool design.
Art Direction for a virtual world, designed to empower children to be creative through music generation and multiplayer construction. I started out with the founding team, setting the initial art style and establishing a series of technical pipelines to create and deploy a wide variety of assets, including the weekly release of items sold for virtual currency. As well as leading the art department to create the vision for the game from concept to deployment, I:
established a methodology for designing and populating spherical interactive environments, each with unique gameplay.
worked with developers on the implementation of a complex modular spaceship builder, from the UX through to designing and building the actual modules.
lead a project to design the UX and UI of the 'onboarding-funnel', intended to encourage an emotional response from new players, and guide them through registration into the game itself.
consistently revised all pipelines to suit technical advances and deployment requirements.
Art direction of dynamic multiplayer game environments. I supervised the development of concept art and gameplay prototypes, and ensured this vision was successfully translated into quality game assets.
