      Work with numerous design and fabrication firms to design, fabricate and install new multidisciplinary exhibits for National Parks visitor centers across the country.

      History Colorado
      Denver, CO
      Aug 2016 - Jan 2018 (1 year 5 months)
      Responsible for the design and production of permanent and temporary exhibitions for the History Colorado Center in Denver as well as eight community museums around the state. Worked closely with educators, curators, advisors and the collections department to ensure designs meet criteria for artifact conservation and protection. Coordinated efforts of in-house exhibit production team and numerous contractors to implement several exhibit projects simultaneously. I led the fast-paced construction of several new exhibitions:

      Preservation 50 - An artifact display highlighting fifty years of historic preservation in the state of Colorado. Opened October 2016.

      Backstory: Western American Art in Context - This 9,000 sq. ft. exhibition combined priceless works of art from The Denver Art Museum with dozens of artifacts from the history museum’s collections.The year-long exhibition opened in February 2017.

      Byers Evans House Museum - I designed a renovation to the historic 19th century carriage house to host a new exhibits, the first of which highlighted women’s history in Colorado.

      Ute Indian Museum - The expanded museum opened in June 2017. All exhibits were built by our team in Denver and I led the five week long installation in Montrose, CO.

      El Movimiento - I also designed this new permanent exhibit, which tells the story of the Chicano civil rights movement in the State of Colorado during the 1960’s and ’70’s.

      The Centennial State in 100 Objects - I worked closely with local architects and specialty fabricators to construct the gallery itself and build the exhibit displays. The contemporary display of historical artifacts opened in November 2017.

      Responsible for exhibit operations and maintenance, booking and installing traveling exhibits, negotiating service contracts and the design and construction of "The DeBakey Cell Lab" and "The Amazing Body" gallery as well as a remodel of the Museum Store, vending lounge and adjacent gallery space.

      In 2011, I rejoined the staff at the Exploreum as Director of Exhibits where I managed the renovation of a 6000 sq. ft. gallery to host traveling exhibits. I also created several new STEM-based exhibit experiences, including the design and construction of:

      ExploreTEC - an engineering lab, featured hands-on technology programs and 3D printing.

      Scratch Factory - a creative gallery based on the maker-movement / tinker-studio concept.

      Science Squad Headquarters - a multipurpose science lab and demonstration space designed specifically for young visitors.

      Butterflies, Bugs and Beetles - a custom-built display of over 1,000 preserved insects.

      Freelance projects, 2009-2011. I designed two “Drug Education Vehicles” for hospital systems in Mobile, AL and Laurel, MS. The unique mobile classrooms feature a multimedia theater and interactive touch screen kiosks that teach young children to avoid the dangers of illicit drugs.

      I was contracted to design the 7,000 sq. ft. permanent exhibition My BodyWorks, which opened at The Exploreum Science Center in January 2009. The high-tech gallery featured dozens of activities that explored health and the human body.

      In November 2003 I joined the senior staff at South Florida Science Museum - a museum of science and natural history. As Director of Exhibits, I was responsible for the design, fabrication and maintenance of all indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as managing the traveling exhibits program. I created a master plan and implemented a complete makeover of all exhibits and public spaces throughout the 22,000 sq. ft. facility.

      Oct 1990 - May 2003 (12 years 7 months)
      I started my exhibit design career at Carnegie Science Center, where I worked for nearly 13 years… ultimately becoming Senior Exhibit Designer. With an in-house design and fabrication team, we created over 50,000 sq. ft. of interactive science and technology exhibits, including two 5000 sq. ft. national traveling exhibitions:

      Robotics - a highly successful exhibition that toured North America for over 12 years.

      ZAP! Surgery - a high-tech display that featured unique hands-on activities and a simulator ride that explored minimally invasive surgical technologies and the basic science behind them.

      I also worked on a few permanent galleries at Carnegie Science Center:

      SciQuest - a popular hands-on gallery that explored principals of flight, forces of nature and various forms of waves.

      SeaScape - was an upgrade to an aquarium gallery.

      SportsWorks - opened as the world’s largest science of sports exhibition.
  • Awards

    Publication - Art Creations Magazine - My original artwork was featured in the premier issue of Art Creations Magazine, summer 2009.

    2001 - Award Recipient National Graduate of the Year: Annual award given by the Accrediting Awarded to a single graduate from over 760 member schools across the Nation. Related to my design work on the traveling exhibition "ZAP! Surgery." I was nominated by The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

    Featured in National Advertising Campaign - My likeness and design work were featured in a national advertising campaign related to the creative use of Dupont's Corian material. Appeared in magazines brochures etc. during the summer of 2000.

    Academic Advisor- Provided employer input into the development of the Industrial Design Curriculum at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh
