Draping Dream

Project:
Create a sample garment on a modern interpretation of a historical designer.
Goal:
Explore draping with the focus on complex garment design by interpreting 2-D pattern-making into 3-D draping.
Historical Designer Choice:
Charles James, July 1906 to September 1978
Design Statement:
My Concept and inspiration is on British-born fashion designer Charles James, known as “America’s First Couturier”. He is widely considered to have been a master of cutting and is known for his highly structured aesthetic and manipulation of textiles.
Customer Profile:
My customer only wears the finest. Her status in society is very important to her. She goes to high profile charity’s and balls. When she attends these benefits she likes to stand out of the crowd and where unique one of a kind pieces.
