Space Needle Models

I was responsible for creating a giveaway item for Designcraft’s booth at the 2015 IDSA International Conference in Seattle. I wanted to create an experience that would allow visitors to the booth to create a model with a model maker. The final concept was a miniature Space Needle with a removable topper that was also a spinning top toy. It was a fun, interactive design project that advertised Designcraft’s capabilities and let potential customers get to know the company better.
The main objective of the giveaway was to show off Designcraft’s capabilities. I wanted to utilize as many different materials and processes as possible, while still making the models affordable to the company. The final result incorporated 3D printed parts, laser-cut acrylic, laser-cut stainless steel, tumbled finishes, and magnetic assembly. At the end of the conference, all 300 units had been assembled and taken home by attendees.
