Hybrid Konnect - Factory Design
I took part in a week-long placement at
‘factorydesign’, an award-winning London-based design consultancy. They really challenged me with a brief to design and present a product to aid busy commuting cyclists, given the duration of my time there. This involved shadowing users in primary research, concept development and presenting the product in a formal context.
The product designed was a ‘hybrid’ bike lock, in that it was removable, enabling compatibility with all bikes. Whilst featuring a semi-permanent mechanism that allowed single-hand operation similar to that found on bespoke , built-in bike locks.
