The B45 glasses represent a distinct departure from traditional glasses which are produced from several separate pieces and are then assembled. The B45’s front and arms are created from nylon powder in one interlocking SLS print negating the need for any fasteners.
Through testing a specialised edging technique the clearance between parts has been minimised from the recommended 0.6 to 0.25mm without any fusing occurring. This allows for a tighter relationship using snap-fits between the front frame and each arm.
B45 Glasses received an honourable mention at the inaugural e MAGINE laser sintering design competition held by Sydney-based additive manufacturers Advanced Manufacturing Services in conjunction with WORKSHOPPED
