The Daisy has been designed to tackle the issue of compliance with prescribed medication for young female patients suffering from bipolar disorder (manic depression). The product is designed to be worn around the wrist of the user giving the impression of jewellery rather than a medication aid. The design works by alerting the patient of when it is time to take their medication, through the use of a gentle build up of vibration and light without attracting the unwanted attention of others. The Daisy is not just a silent alarm it is a team of objects that work together to help the patient live with their disorder. The design includes a diary that the user uses to keep notes of their feelings which has been proven to help, the pill box which can be separated into day by day boxes, the Daisy bed allows the user to link the Daisy bangle to a computer to set the alarm time and also keep a digital track of their medication.
