Fortress Predel

Fortress Predel is located about a mile from the former border crossing compartment. It is known as one of the six forts in Koroška. The first fort was built during the Napoleonic Wars, and was then in the battles between the French and Austrians burnt down twice. On the site of an old fort built in 1850, so new that it was composed of the main building on a hill and a small prison building the road. Buildings were interconnected by an underground passage and walls. Just along the road is a memorial formed by a stone retaining wall, pyramid, with carved inscription cast iron and plastics wounded lion. In honor of the fallen past it was erected by the Austrian Emperor Ferdinand I. and was officially discovered in 1851. Before the fort in 1898 and converted into a military depot as no longer meet changing military regulations and has become obsolete. The Depot before it was renamed in 1907. After the First World War, the building was no longer maintained, so far seen only the walls.
