I am a product design student in my second year of a 4-year sandwich course at Bournemouth University. As part of the course I am required to complete a forty week placement in my 3rd year. I am a highly motivated and passionate designer that would relish the opportunity to complete this placement period in a challenging and exciting design environment

The course aims to develop the key skills needed to be a designer of successful commercial products. Elements of the course include manufacturing, physical models, prototyping as well as training in industry standard computer models. I am particularly passionate about developing my creativity and innovation in a way to solve complex design problems
Camp America – Windland Tolland 4H camp – Connecticut USA
Position: Camp Counselor June 2012 – September 2012
Camp America (CA) is a nine-week development programme that was a fantastic experience for me. CA was a great way to experience different cultures as well as travel in the USA. Due to the nature of the work I was often in a position of leadership, learning so much about myself as about the role. The Camp specialised in working with young children, often from disadvantaged and troubled backgrounds, aged 6 – 15. I would care for them and help give them a great summer. This included:
- Teaching fishing for between 6-7 hours a day
- Working in an intensive and stressful environment in a position of leadership
- Member of large counselor team, caring and teaching over 200 children per week
- Caring out training and development duties as well as first aid
Pershore Plant Emporium Ltd
Position: Garden design consultant and labourer April 2008 – October 2011
The Pershore Plant Emporium focuses on selling high quality, mature specimen plants from designs that are based around the client’s needs. It is a small business that offers very high customer service and high quality extensive garden designs. My role was;
- Manual laborer, planting an extensive array of plants into high quality gardens
- Working as part of a design team on large-scale projects, with budgets ranging from £50,000-£120,000
- Gained experience in many areas of the design process including technical drawings, concept work, client presentation technique and transformation of designs into gardens
- Shadowing and observing more senior staff members
Blue Diamond Ltd
Position – Part time catering assistant April 2008 – October 2011
Blue Diamond Ltd is a large garden center. It has a catering side that offers carvery and other hot meals/drinks, served in high volume often. Turnover per day would often exceed £10,000
- Duties included taking orders and serving customers in a professional and efficient manner. Calculating order totals and processing cash payments
- Carrying out stock checks and replenishing as necessary
- Ensuring the cleanliness of equipment and facilities is maintained to a high standard
