Initiate and oversee production from concept drawings and prototypes to finished pieces. URBAN OUTFITTERS, PHILADELPHIA, PA 2002-2004 Gift Buyer/Product Development: *Sourcing, purchasing and managing complete gift & holiday buy for 65 store chain (plus catalog and website) with departmental sales volume in excess of $15,000,000.00. Product assortment included frames, vases, candles, boxes, stationery, holiday, gifts, books, novelties and toys. *Managed inventory levels, flowed “open to buy”, determined monthly markdowns, and analyzed sales across all categories. *Developed seasonal trends from initial concepts to creation of final boards. Worked directly with overseas manufacturers to design and develop product in all categories to support trends. Traveled extensively to source emerging trends, ideas and concepts for all company divisions including home, gift, and apparel categories. *Managed and trained staff of assistant and associate buyer whose responsibilities included: vendor follow-up, product coding and classification, p.o maintenance, monthly recaps and D.C issues/communication. ABC CARPET & HOME, NY, NY 1999 - 2002 Buyer, Home Décor, Stationery, Gift and Seasonal *Catapulted annual volume by 87% by fostering new relationships with overseas vendors increasing product assortment and developing exclusive product for a $4,000,000+ division. *Purchased all product categories for 4 stores, determining proper mix based on regional tastes and price points. Traveled U.S, Europe, and Asia for sourcing, trend research, product development and buying. *Developed a successful line of new chandeliers and home furnishings with European manufacturers based on client needs, design trends, and market voids. Purchased antiques in Asia and Europe, expanding product scope. Succeeded in making the home decor department #1 in growth percentage among all ABC’s 12 departments. *Introduced seasonal Christmas decorations and home decor assortments from Asia, providing ABC with exclusivity and high profit margins. *Upgraded the image and product offerings in stationery, transforming a weak retail area into a distinctive and profitable department with its own vision and prominence. *Nominated to serve on prestigious company committees to contribute to executive decisions on branding, database building, and customer service. Buying, negotiating, and sourcing diverse collections of paper, stationery and gift products internationally. *Instrumental in creating and evolving the image for this trend setting retailer by designing and developing a wide variety of paper products including exclusive stationery, handmade papers, packaging materials, and gift wrap. *Established visual merchandising, pricing, cataloging, sampling and sales systems enhancing both company efficiency and profitability.
