Andrea Ponti is an Italian Industrial Designer actually living between Italy and Japan.

Resume

Andrea Ponti was born in Cagliari in 1985.

Actually he works in Kyoto as Industrial Designer focusing on international projects between Italy and Japan. In July 2006 he graduated in Industrial Design at the Politecnico of Milan, in 2007 he attended one year at Kyushu University (Fukoka-Japan) as exchange student focusing on electric products and transportation design. During this year he participated in several workshops and internships with the major Japanese companies including Honda Motors, Toyota, Daihatsu and Mitsubishi Electric.

In 2008 he has got a master degree in product design at the Politecnico of Milan with a project on Japanese high speed “Shinkansen” trains. A project developed in collaboration with Japanese Railways Group, Paolo Schianchi Architecture Studio and the Italian architect Giuseppe Chigiotti. After returning to Fukuoka in 2009, he spent a year as product design researcher at Kyushu University where joined several projects on house appliances, furniture and tableware.

In April 2009 he moved to Osaka collaborating with Hers Experimental Design Laboratory of the Japanese designer Chiaki Murata and Metaphys brand as product designer and consulant for the Italian and European market. Since July 2010, he has been working with Junzo Yamashita at Space Magic Mon Design Studio (Kyoto) who is responsible for product design and strategic consulting.

Until today he is still working with Paolo Schianchi Architecture Studio, Disegno Ceramica, CE International, Il Sole 24 Ore Business Media, the architecture portal www.floornature.com. From 2010 he is collaborating with Shiori Kuroiwa who is involved in graphic design, concept design development and is responsible for public relations and media communication in japanese language.
