Vetter Liftbag Controller Re-Design

Re-Design Vetter's lift bag controller Vetter came to our design studio class at the Art Institute of Portland desiring a re-design of their current lift bag controller. The current standing model was weak and flimsy and was in need of innovation. They requested use of the existing internals, an economic manufacturing process and material, and a retractable strap. We researched and created concepts individually, then presented 3 ideas each to the company; a step, stretch, and leap concept. My stretch concept was chosen along with 2 other designs from the class to move forward with for the new controller unit.

The User - Through Research and testing: -The handles are extremely flimsy -Hard to maneuver with gloves on -Update gauges (hard to see and get scratched easily). -Cheap feeling and looking -Strap gets in the way when not in use -Difficult to attach hoses when the controller is on the ground, especially with gloves on. -One handed operation is essential -Make it look and operate more ruggid!
