Full Size (highres_width x highres_height)
Froot - Autumn 2007.
Assignment in collaboration with Philips. Design an easy-to-use and easy-to-clean juicer for 65+ elderly couples.
Full Size (highres_width x highres_height)
User research - User observations.
The analysis preceding the design of the product was carried out in a group of five.
During the user observations we asked four elderly couples to make juice with an existing Philips juicer in their own kitchen. We let them work in couples to stimulate them in thinking out loud.
The analysis of the video footage led to a list of design guidelines.

Concept development - Concept generation.
New principles to make juice were thought of and tested.
Based on the design guidelines sketches were made. These led to a concept that was devised in more detail.
Finally the concept was evaluated by the elderly.

Usage - An easy-to-use and easy-to-clean juicer for 65+ elderly couples.
Full Size (highres_width x highres_height)
exploded view - The volume of the juicer was significantly reduced in order to make it fit in the small kitchens of the elderly. The user experience was improved by making the product intuitive to use. The number of parts was reduced, making the product easier to assemble and leaving less parts to clean.

How does it work? - Intuitive use by means of hydraulics.
