Human Beans

Advocacy for the public right to use and/or occupy the space. I feel the right is being violated and controlled by government means when in fact the public tax dollars funded this beautiful public park. The medium of choice is jellybeans. The jellybeans will be symbolizing the public. Their vast array of colors and flavors will represent the society’s multicultural makeup of the cities where the Occupy movement is taking place. The beans were meticulously laid out around Cloud’s Gate in the shape of a labyrinth. This will add meaning of public “enlightenment” as visitors are forced to sidestep around and through a maze of jellybeans in order to view and/or visit the center (the sculpture's underbelly).
The intervention will bring focus to the idea of the public being “played” by the government. The oppressive actions by the 1% have played the public stupid. The public are forced to maneuver by the actions of the oppressors and don’t “see” what is actually going on.
