Testimonios de Magallanes: Miradas Entrecruzadas (Tales of Magallanes: intertwined glances) is a book commissioned by the Chilean water utility company “Aguas Magallanes”, as a contribution to the cultural heritage of the region. The authors, Patricia Arancibia and Mateo Martinic, tell the story of this Southern region of Chile from the sixteenth century, mingling the accounts of foreign travellers who once passed through the area with other sources reaching right to the present day. Testimony from Charles Darwin and Alberto Hurtado is collected with that of other distinguished figures in 116 quotations, accompanied by painstakingly compiled historical and contemporary photographs, some created specially, to perfectly capture the ambience expressed in each quotation.
