I produced this canoe as an independent study during my final semester at Miami University. It was a great opportunity for me to challenge the woodworking skills that I had developed over the previous four years.
The boat is made of 1/4-inch strips of Western Red Cedar sourced from FSC Certified forests in British Columbia. Built entirely without fasteners, the monocoque structure was pieced together with wood glue and compression prior to being sealed with fiberglass and epoxy resin.
