Chris Ferebee / 1971

A community college drop-out, Chris Ferebee is a self-taught artist, furniture/product designer, photographer and graphic designer who has designed award-winning, internationally recognized furniture designs since debuting in 1999 through his NYC design studio, 521 Design.

His work has been included in many design publications such as the International Design Yearbooks 18 and 20, MoMA's The Design Encyclopedia, and Bent Ply: The Art of Plywood Furniture. Exhibitions include American Design in Paris, Triode, Paris 2010, Fashioning Felt, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, NYC 2009, 100% Design, London 2004, New Design New York, Totem Gallery, NYC 2001, Carrefour de la Creation exhibit, Centre Pompidou, Paris 2001 and T.A.G. Team curated by Surface Magazine and Totem Design, Milan/NYC 2001.

Ferebee has also been represented by the stock photo agencies Photonica/Getty Images and Graphistock since 1992 where has had works published by such diverse clients as IBM, Microsoft, Sony, Saatchi & Saatchi, and American Express.

Ferebee continues to focus on new areas of art and design. His most recent venture is Cathode Blue, a vintage design shop on Etsy.com, and Folklore, a brick & mortar design gallery & shop focusing on a select inventory of vintage and modern objects, books, music and art..
