Before and after - Lillian St. Completing this house was without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever done. I purchased the house in a fit of exuberance and later concluded the entire foundation needed replaced. I did not have the money to pay someone to do it, so I read a lot of books, talked to some experts, and did it myself. I slid four 40' i-beams under the house with a Bobcat, jacked them up with 12 bottle jacks I purchased from Harbor Freight, and spent several weeks on my belly, in the dirt, replacing everything. When it was done, I lowered the house on its new foundation and began the rest of the renovation. I did it right and it turned out beautifully.
During the lifting process, I removed and rebuilt the porch structure due to termite damage.
I used 3D CAD software to design the dormer and submit plans to the historical commission before building it.
Building the dormer. Once you cut a giant hole in the roof there is no going back.

This is how I monitored the slow process of lifting the house. It wasn't hi-tech but it worked.
That's me working on the floor structure after the footers where poured.

Before and after - McFerrin Ave. This was my first major historic renovation. A partner and I did most of the labor ourselves over the span of a year. I gained a ton of knowledge and even made a little money.
After modeling the Mcferrin dormer using 3D CAD software, I mocked it up as shown in this photo just to be sure.
Porch and dormer construction. Organized chaos.
Now it's starting to look like something.

I built a new staircase which allowed me to finish the attic.

Architecture and Construction

These are several historic homes I have remodeled. I did the interior and exterior design work as well as most of the actual construction. I am a very "hands-on" person.
