JSF HMD - The F-35 JSF Helmet Mounted Display System provides pilots with HUD functionality on a helmet so they can acquire targets anywhere they look. I was part of a team of engineers and designers at Rockwell Collins responsible for the development and windblast testing of the helmet. I designed the mechanism that retracts the entire optical system so the pilot can wipe his eyes, etc. I also did tolerance analysis on the optical system and selected high performance composites used in its construction.
