Thanks Joe! This piece is a combination of Corel Painter and Photoshop. I created most of it in Painter, using some custom brushes and textures. (The "pattern chalk" tool in painter is a lot of fun to work with, once you add some of your own patterns.) Then took it into Photoshop to add the color; I used a lot of gradients and played with the blending options for different layers. And slowly built up the color in that fashion, erasing parts of layers out to apply it more selectively.
