Preliminary sketch for a stylized blade.
CNC cut blade profiles for edge profile research and scale fitment.
Numerous examples are executed to determine manufacturing costs as well as explore a family of cutting tools derived from one universal profile.
Pins are in place and scales are epoxied before an initial rough grind/sand treatment.
Second phase sanding with blade guard in place.
This operation is after the initial grind/sand and before blade guard is in place.
An ESAB plasma cutter will make quick work of any hardened steel.
A recycled/ re-purposed concrete cutting blade is the foundation for skinner models.
Hand ground and hand sanded.
A finished skinner model before the edge is finished.
Blade profiles are matched with exotic wood scales.
Almost there...
Custom polyester resin scales.
Three different models are based on the same 2D profile but scales and edge treatment give them each their own identity.
Final prototypes on display.

CUTTING EDGE KNIVES

These blades started out as an academic research project based on ergonomics and quickly became a personal creative outlet. Since I started making custom resin scales, a lot of preorders have come in. The official line will be released in early 2016.
