TOM SP Brand - Geometric FIgures generated the visual pattern for the board.
The board featuring the geometric figures. Size 30 cm x 30 cm
3D printing of the figures to be glued at the board. The printing allowed visual disabled kids to feel texture, size and shape. The Design Hackathon had 3D Printers available at the facilities to support teams.
How each figure generated sound? The sound was generated by a conductive paint connected added to the surface of each figure (black lines - spots), under each figure you have a metalic filament connected to a raspberry board.
Ready to test. The initial idea was to use a rug. However, due to the short time (48 hours Design Hackathon) and the absence of a rug, we decided to start with a small sample.
Ready, actual size. Physical prototype done at the Design Hackathon.

Inclusive Game for visual disabled kids for TOM SP 2014. "Jogo Inclusivo" means Inclusive Game.
The Raspberry board and the conductive paint (black) on the board to conduct electricity signals to produce musical sounds.

Design and technical assistance at TOM SP 2014

TOM is a design hackathon created in Israel with the main objective of designing, developing, prototyping products for people with disabilities in a 48 hours challenge.

TOM SP is the first event abroad in Brazil supported by State Government of São Paulo. During 28-30 of November, six times with different challenges created or optimized 14 projects.

I was part of team 4 in which we designed and developed a toy for visual disabled kids.
The project consisted of a chess board decorated with TOMSP´s geometric figures (Circle, square, triangle) in which each figure has a specific sound and texture.
This toy was developed to:
-visual disabled kids - the geometric figures with textures are displayed as cards in which the children has to find the correspondent shape at the board.
A second exercise is that each figure has a specific sound, the computer would play a sequence of sounds, that the children have to repeat by touching at the right figures.
