The East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry between Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. has been so intriguing that I wanted to memorialize them in fabric and thread. Their fame hasn't faded much since their shocking deaths in '96 and '97. The fabric I chose is as rich and vibrant as their legacy. Biggie is currently hanging in the Muskegon Museum of Art and was accepted as part of the Excellence in Fibers V show in 2019.

Dyngus Day in the 216 The phenomena of Dyngus Day has descended on Cleveland only recently, and 2017 celebrated it’s 7th consecutive year with great success. I wanted to express the ethnic memories from my childhood growing up in Cleveland and the unique excitement of this unusual holiday that takes place on the Monday after Easter. My collage art evolves over time… tea staining an old Cleveland map led to my next steps of creating a depth of field with my original photography. Experimenting with color combinations and filters in Photoshop adds to the unique color scheme. The vintage imagery represents the rich history and ethnicity which is at the very soul of our city.

Lemonade in Barcelona This collage is my expression of celebrating one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Barcelona. My original photography always lends a great base for my artwork, so I chose this interesting shot with it’s meandering depth of field drawing the viewer in towards the brilliant sunset. The rearranged reality with this assembled moment in the foreground, communicates the energy and beauty that emerges over time with the stacks of repurposed, vintage magazines that I breathe new life into. The American Girl magazine cover that was used for bits and pieces of this was originally delivered to a Girls Scout that lived on Meadowbrook in Cleveland Hts in November, 1945... it ends up a few streets away and into my studio for liberation to life anew.
