Prototype of the table Wosaich - Wosaich is designed as a tea ceremony table for four people. The table surface is lower than the regular coffer table. While drinking teas, users will sit on pads or pillows on the floor. The traditional taste and the classical style of the table will help to create a peaceful environment for the happy tea time.
Design Process - The top centre of the table surface is designed with the inspiration of Chinese traditional symbols, standing for happiness, health, wealth and fortune. Around the circle centre, the square corners are decorated with inlay of walnut hardwood, inspired by traditional wood window frames. Based on the general ornament, the new pattern is less complicated and more contemporary, remaining the same classical taste. The design process started directly from computer modelling.
Prototype making and assembling - The materials selected for the table are walnut and birch hard wood, which may offer the beautiful color composition and contrast for the final design. For the well-finished prototype, no screws will show out on the final piece. All the pieces were cut by laser, which would give all the parts perfect fits. The final finish for is wipe-on poly. Wax was also applied on top of that for better protection.
