While I spent time interning at a design school on Nantucket, I took my very first steps as a photographer—in fact, I learned film photography before I ever learned anything about digital. The intricacy of the spaces on Nantucket are second only to the energy of the people, and while staying on the East Coast for the first time, I noticed a confident, natural energy that my Midwest (which, it seems to me, has always had something to prove) has never quite had. Below are a selection of film photographs I took and developed by hand while on the island.
