Fifteen ways to choose a design firm:
Network friends and peers in the business community and ask them who they use for their really important marketing communications and design projects. Set up a Design Firm Search Committee to include representatives from the firm’s legal, purchasing and corporate finance departments. Delegate it to one of your least favorite underlings. Find out which design firm your biggest competitor uses and
steal them away. Ask who your immediate predecessor used and definitely don’t use them. Log onto the Internet: alt.design.wow@cost.ok. Post a note on the bulletin board at your neighborhood supermarket. Run an ad in the Personals section of New York Magazine: “Sensitive VP seeks imaginative and accomplished DFfor poss. perm. relat.” Take your schnauzer for a long walk every night outside the Graphic Artists Guild offices.
