Interactive Bar

The idea behind the Interactive Bar was to create something that would make this restaurant stand out from the others. My first thought was to make all of the tables interactive but that would have been too big of a challenge for the time we had available. The next best thing was to make the entire bar into a giant multitouch screen.
So that is what we did.

Project was completed November 2012.

It is 14ft long and has a 13.5ft touchscreen surface on top whos structure is made entirely from wood. Not my first choice for a project like this but it did work in the end.
The top is made of custom low friction tempered glass.
Inside are several projectors and a network of sensors which create the multitouch experience.

The bar can run custom software or already made software and games (like angry birds for example). In the future we will integrate menus and perhaps an ordering system. My roll was the sole designer of both structure and electronics and also in the construction.
