The Dust Pansy is naturally in the closed position until it is pushed down onto the ground, forcing the pan to unfold and stretch a material out tight onto the ground to prevent an accumulation of dust at the rim of the dustpan. Users retrieve the broom by pulling the yellow handle out of the tube and the head of the broom flexes out. They can sweep the dirt in from any angle and when finished, the Dust Pansy collects all of the dirt when it is picked up and resumes its closed position.
The dustpans and brooms people use today require users to sweep the dirt in from a specific angle in order to sweep up most of the dirt as their hands are full with the dustpan in one hand and the broom in the other.
