Zest Glo - Redesigning an existing $2 pocket light into a tealight. Most tealights are bright on the top, but dark at the bottom. Hence, I sought to create a tealight that illuminates at the top and bottom - with textures. The result is a tealight with concentric circles, amplified by the bottom bulb.
Assembly Drawings in order of sequence.
Assembled product from different perspective to demonstrate how compact the design is.
The most critical part of the design was the center piece to secure both the top and bottom bulb in a single line for a clean visual language, while contending with the tight spaces within.
The final design serves both a poetic and a functional purpose. Poetic: the concentric circles mimic the rings within a tree bark, which aligns with a nature theme. Functional: most tealights are dark at the bottom, which provides limited illumination. But this tealight is well-lit and the light spreads throughout the table surface - helpful for menus placed in dimmed dinner settings.
