Huddle

My thesis project examines barriers to physical exercise in modern life through three lenses: environmental, cultural and social, as well as perceived motivational factors. Her research indicated that the barriers to physical exercise are highly fragmented and personal. My thesis is comprised of three main offerings that address the three factors.

The project is inspired by her own running journey and her experience with a local community running program.

My first intervention point, huddle, is an Information and placemaking station. The core idea is to promote the use of the lesser known parks that exist near the low income neighborhoods and encourage residents to frequent these parks. Huddles are visually striking objects and public elements that influence the navigation and flow of the park.
