Position - Product Design Lecturer and Year 1 & 2 Coordinator
Duration - 1st April 2007 - 31st March 2009
Description - I specialised in teaching Year 1 and 2 units focusing mainly on basic skills (perspective drawing, drafting and marker rendering, presentation techniques), design theory (Sustainable Design, Communication in Design) and Product Design relevant programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, Google Sketchup, Solidworks and 3D Max). Also, I felt that this was quite an exciting & challenging opportunity to experience China from the non-tourist side. In my second year of employment I was promoted to Year 1 & 2 coordinator.

Description - Part of a UK based company that designs & manufactures point-of-sales displays. They also produce light fixtures & kitchens. The definition of product being so broad, I was often asked to help out in the other departments as well. Here I learnt much about POS design & materials though handling projects from our main client, Marlboro. Programs that were used were 3D Studio Max and Solidworks.

Description - Bag manufacturing company that had suppliers from China. Started out as the Design Department head where I led a team of 2 other designers. The design department mainly dealt with graphic design matters. During this time, I designed the company�s mascot, branding, catalogue & set up a basic database system for their products where before there was none. Later on I requested to be transferred to the R&D Department where my training as a product designer can be used.

Position - Contractual Product Designer
Duration - 8th March 2005 to 8th April 2005
Description - Worked on contract for one month in the product design department where they were developing a new RFID product. Due to the company�s financial issues the department was dissolved before any of the projects were completed.

Duration - 5th January 2005 to 4th February 2005
Description - Due to my previous working relationship with the company, I hired on a 1-month contract basis right after my graduation. I mainly used my illustration skills during this period. For my benefit, I picked up a lot on graphic design techniques & polished up my software knowledge.

Description - For my Major Design Project unit at Curtin, I was assigned to this kitchen appliance company. I had to design a range of appliances that matched their existing toaster design. I had to develop my product all the way to production stage. Now my designs are a part of their marketable line of products. Description - Short freelance job as an animator at a small local production house. Back then I was considering a career in animation, however I felt that it wasn�t my calling. Nevertheless, it was a good experience. I learned how to create animated cartoons in the traditional way & the effort that goes into a great animation.
