Product / Production Director

While creating, structuring and managing the product creation process at POW Gloves I act in several positions including:

Director of Product
• Structured the product creation process based off a 14 month development, production and delivery schedule
• Create a weekly, monthly and yearly calendar incorporating departments and positions within PLM, Design, Development, Planning, Sourcing and Production
• Create a key dates tracking calendar that outlines each department and position responsibilities
• Illustrated and implemented a product creation process for seasonal product cycle
• Structure interdepartmental meetings for decision-making for wholesale pricing, marketing initiatives, financial planning, production order and inventory planning
• Advise and monitor PO orders and inventory risk management
• Incorporated sales, finance and line management for a profitable, on-time, market appropriate product line
• Work to solve overriding cash flow issues of seasonal sampling and bulk production while managing and maintaining timelines for on-time delivery, focusing on improving product margin and resource management

Product Line Manager
• Managed four product lines, including winter gloves, bike gloves, golf gloves and head wear
• Created a line list product tracking tool for each line incorporating market analysis, LDP margin calculation and historical selling data for product line analysis and mixture
• Combined historical selling data, market trends and competitor position to focus the product line and created new products targeting soft gaps within our market product improved margin, market share and brand position
• Create product briefs to aligned sales, design, development and finance teams
• Organize and lead PLM meetings through each phase of the development and line management process
• Organize various strings of information between the executive group, in-house and outside sales teams, design / development, planning, sourcing, logistics and production departments

Product Design Management
• Created templates for all design documentation
• Manage designers to work in a collaborative design process with regular design review to ensure FOB target and deadline tracking
• Established a design to development hand off standard
• Communicate brand story and aesthetic from product, to sales and marketing

Development Management
• Align development department with factory vendors for common product component standards
• Streamline development specification documents for factory hand off
• Source and track specialized materials from procurement through delivery to Asian assembly factories
• Multi-country Asia travel while developing and modifying products over the course of several months
• Implement several product standards and addressed issues from material sourcing, fit, and FOB price targets
• Maintain all factory correspondence and instruction
• Assure factories supply component price sheets
• Establish company procedure to increase per style unit orders while decreasing FOB price

Production Management
• Analyze and track all lead times, company to factory interactions, production agreements and factory proficiency
• Spend four to six months a year overseas on factory liaison trips to Indonesia
• Maintain all production PO orders, invoices, payment schedules, and packing instructions
• Monitor material consumption and quality control
• Analyze production processes and construction to identified issues slowing production
• Adjust product assembly lines at factory to improve efficiency and on time shipment of product

Ripcurl Australia / Torquay, Victoria, Australia / June 2010 - December 2010

Senior Designer
• Transitioned footwear position from USA office and established new footwear design department at Ripcurl in Australia
• Set up product creation process interaction between Product Manager, Design and Development
• Trained designer for female footwear division
• Assessed factory capabilities in Indonesia to improve development and production standards for open toe footwear category
• Established a design process for product hand off to manufacturer. Implemented this process within design and development department

Owner / Freelance Industrial Designer
• Worked on specific industrial design projects for action sport companies such as The Program (Forum Snowboarding) with a design focus on snowboard boots and bindings, open toe footwear, and technical product design

Reef / San Diego, California / June 2004 - August 2008

Footwear Designer
• Designed the men’s sandal and close toe line in a team atmosphere
• Managed design-related issues with distributors from Australia-Asia territories
• Participated in multiple development trips Including China and Korea, Europe, Japan, Australia and East and West coastal USA market trips

Windell's Snowboard Camp / Mt. Hood, Oregon / Summers 2001-2003

Photography Manager
• Developed and managed a custom photography department by hiring and scheduling photographers
• Coordinated photo posting web site, camp photographers and camp web master
• Performed photo editing and image manipulation for brochure and camp promotion materials
