I am currently pursuing opportunities for freelance design work. As a Senior Industrial Designer, the ability to be flexible and adapt to different types of projects, has been an important part of my work experience. My design activities have varied from evaluating product landscapes to developing final product direction for clients.

PROFILE I am multifaceted and embrace challenges. I have experience examining and understanding a variety of consumer markets; this has assisted me in the designing of successful products sold in major retail outlets. EXPERIENCE SR. INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER, INNOVATION FIRST, INC, GREENVILLE, TX- JUN 2010-PRESENT I currently assist the design team with research and product development of consumer products for the toy industry. FREELANCE INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER (Owner), JML DESIGN GROUP. MCKINNEY, TX-2005-PRESENT I develop concept renderings for presentation purposes and produce detailed orthographic drawings to guide engineers overseas in the creation of prototypes. My clients include: RGA Services LLC., Colleyville, TX Robotech, Inc., Plano, TX Mattel, Inc., El Segundo, CA Graphic Microsystems, Inc., Rockwall, TX Hasbro, Inc., Pawtucket, RI SR. INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER, POINT INNOVATION, ADDISON, TX- 2008 I worked with clients and the design team in developing consumer product concepts, and handed off the deliverable. I also assisted the firm in creating design tools to enhance their design development process. SR. INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER, IGNITION INC., PLANO, TX- 2006-2007 I worked with clients, researched and evaluated competitive landscapes, ideated with the internal and external design teams to create product concepts, and hand off deliverables. I worked with Radio Shack to create Sirius radio boom box concepts and developed accessories for the Transformers Bumble Bee and Barricade XMODs custom RC. I co-created a seventy-three page Baby Boomer Report to assist Radio Shack with brand strategy. I also worked with Texas Instruments Inc. to create cell phone concepts which were made into photo models to be used for sales support. I designed products for Sanford Co., collaborating with their internal design team. We completed research that revealed market opportunities, we created, refined and visualized product concepts through sketches and working mock-ups. I worked with AMX Co., to update their control systems product line. I collaborate with a wide range of people, clients, designers, product managers, engineers, and vendors. SR. INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER, RADICA GAMES, LTD, DALLAS, TEXAS- 1998-2006 I managed projects from the initial concept to the finished manufactured product. I worked with the internal design team and licensor to create and develop a variety of toy concepts. I designed handheld LCD games with the Star Wars, Barbie, and EA Sports licenses. A number of these projects allowed me to get involved in developing game play and creating dot matrix artwork. I had an opportunity to work on the Men In Black licensed ear buds, where I was involved in sculpting the characters for the ear buds. Several times while with the company if we were unable to find a vendor to complete a sculpting project in our time frame, I would create the sculpt for the project that was sent to our engineers in China for casting. I was the go to guy for sculpting and presentation drawings. I designed accessories for the Sony PSP. I evaluated accessories in the market, created concept sketches, made proof of concept mockups for the final product before creating the 3D Solidworks model, which was sent to China to produce the final product. Other key products I worked on were Radica's Girltech Brand Password Journal 2, 20Q Junior which was named 2005 Toy of The Year (TOTY); Oppenheim Platinum Seal Award Family Fun Finalist. My final project with the company was Brain Games based on pioneered research by UCLA's Dr. Gary Small. I research and developed games based on feedback from Dr. Smalls, this included specifying the LCD size, creating game flow and dot matrix artwork. Brain Games has won Reader's Digest 2007 Top 100 in the Entertainment category. FREELANCE INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER, RGA SERVICES LLC. DALLAS, TX-2005-PRESENT I develop concept renderings for presentation purposes and produce detailed orthographic drawings to guide engineers overseas in the creation of prototypes. Most of these products fall into the sporting goods category. FREELANCE INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER, HASBRO, INC. PAWTUCKET, RI-2009 Through sketching I helped develop design concepts for several products. EDUCATION Cleveland Institute of Art B.F.A in Industrial Design, minor Graphic Design, 1989 SKILLS I am experienced with managing projects through all phases of product development. I work well in a team environment or independently. I have experience working with internal marketing departments and knowledge of manufacturing overseas. I always consider cost restraints and complete projects on time. I have a working knowledge of the following software programs: Illustrator, Photoshop, Macromedia Director, Solidworks and Cool Edit audio software, and Microsoft Office package.
