TITLE
AGAINST THE GRAIN: ALIGNING SPONTANEOUS HUMAN CHOICES WITH PLANNING OF URBAN PATHWAYS.

CROSS-CULTURAL GROUPS
(1) humans as an undifferentiated mass of commuters, walkers and inhabitants of large urban environments
(2) committees of local government policy-makers as expeditors of poorly researched affective decisions
(3) urban planners as minor functional units
(4) road workers implementing building plans

ABSTRACT
For this project, I looked at the disconnection between people’s chosen pathways through urban spaces and the conduits laid out for them by others. I tackled the problem of synchronising preferred paths with the designed constructs, the paths that urban planners decide people ought to take. In addition to the research findings, one of the outcomes was a conceptual application solution "mapDesire", shown here.
