Collapsible Cardboard Throne

Right of passage project for every ID student: the cardboard chair. The added challenge here was that it had to collapse to pack flat and assemble in under two minutes. Paper prototypes and discovery process shown. Final version is inspired by the Mad Hatter's tea party chair in Alice In Wonderland.

Back View - Final Model - This project was for Introduction to Industrial Design at California College of the Arts. The challenge was to build a chair using only cardboard (no hard fasteners) that supported the weight of our teacher and folded completely flat.
