BA Final Project

A CONCEPT PROJECT EXPLORING SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT SOLUTIONS FOR LUXURY FOOTWEAR. MATERIALS, CONSTRUCTION, AESTHETIC AND PRODUCT LIFE HAVE BEEN EXAMINED AND REDESIGNED. INSPIRATION IS DRAWN FROM A FUSION OF THE NATURAL WORLD AND THE WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY, CELEBRATING THE FORMER BY EMBRACING NEW METHODS OF DEVELOPMENT AND MANUFACTURE; THE GOAL IS TO ACHIEVE A CLOSED-LOOP LIFECYLE.

THE PROTOTYPE WEDGE ICICA RELIES ON THE PRINCIPLE OF MODULAR CONSTRUCTION AND MECHANICAL GRIP TO REPLACE GLUE. THE RESULT IS A STRIKING SHOE WITH COMPONENTS WHICH CAN BE SEPARATED (AND THEORETICALLY RECYCLED/BIODEGRADED) POST CONSUMPTION.

“Our industrial activites have exceeded the capacity of the globe to safely perpetuate them: The mission of manufacturing should no longer be to produce with the greatest efficiency, rather to provide satisfaction to customers while having minimal environmental impact.” - SHOZO TAKATA
