A memorial for Michael Jackson, an American recording artist, entertainer, and businessman. Often referred to as the King of Pop, or by his initials MJ. His contribution to music, dance, and fashion, along with a much-publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades
The Water Tank Building, was tallest structure on our campus with this ambiguity around it. This was the most apt to portray the heights of Mj's success along with the curiosity people felt about his mysterious personal space.
Inspiration: Equalizer beats, the mask of glory.
Accessing the building.
Into the space, an empty room. A spiral in the emptiness leading you higher. This is the transition point were the audience shall get a whiff of what is actually behind the mask of glory.
The unraveling of the harsh truth. Behind the glam...
And higher above into the heights of glory. A chance to be in his shoes. the feeling of being sought after, hands reaching up to you one racing the other.
Back to reality, finding your way out through the darkness.
And into the banks of river Sabarmati, an amphitheater in the memory of the Performer. The show must go on.

A Memorial for the Legendary MJ

My initiation to the discipline was through this project where I gained knowledge about the Elements of Space and its impact on the visitor psychology. Then applying it in the translation of experiences into the space.
BRIEF: To create a memorial for a Personal at an existing site within our campus in groups of two over the duration of three weeks.
